Ivan had his first professional fight on January 24, 2014 at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio on a Golden Boy card where he won the bout by unanimous decision. His second fight, an Allstar Boxing card in Los Angeles, ended in a majority draw. Then he found a home, fighting exclusively on Golden Boy cards in Indio and Los Angeles, where he won his next 10 fights in a row, 4 of them by KO, to earn an impressive record of 11-0-1. It was also on a Golden Boy card in 2017 at the Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles that he was handed his first defeat—at the hands of Charles Huerta.
In 2018, Ivan fought 3 more times, throughout the year he picked up 2 more wins (by TKO) in Mexico and another majority draw at the Hanger in Costa Mesa—the later being a fight he thought he had won. His record stood at 13-1-2. Ivan was with Golden Boy from 2014 to 2019. Between 2019 - 2021, he would go on to lose his next 3 fight in a row, while also dealing with personal issues as well.
After being away from the fight game for several years, Ivan is determined to get back in the ring and prove that it’s where he truly belongs. He has already demonstrated his toughness and the ability get the win in the past. Despite having 4 losses on his record, he still has 13 solid wins, that cannot be taken from him. Hopefully, when Ivan climbs through the ropes next Saturday, a win will come his way and it will show us just how resilient he is!
