Golden Boy Promotions announced they have just signed Ricardo “El Nino” Sandoval. He will be making his debut as a Golden Boy fighter on the undercard of Josph Diaz vs. Jesus Perez on Thursday, February 15th at The Commerce Casino. While it might be his first official fight as a Golden Boy fighter, the 25 bout veteran has been a familiar name on an ocassional Golden Boy fight card since 2017. Ricardo Sandoval’s current professional record stands at 23(16 KOs)-2-0.
His first appearance for Golden Boy, which was also his first fight in the US, came on August 8, 2017 at Fantasy Springs Casino. Coming into that fight with a record of 7-1-0, Sandoval won the fight by unanimous decision. In 2020, Sandoval headlined a Golden Boy fight card at Fantasy Springs Casino, going toe-to-toe against Raymond Tabugon (22-11-1). Sandoval closed that show with a win by KO.
Ricardo, 24, was born and raised in Southern California and lives in Rialto. Of his 25 professional fights, a total of 14 have been in Mexico with but 5 of those fought in Tijuana. His last fight was on October 21, 2023, on the undercard of Alexis Rocha vs. Giovanni Santillan at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. Ricardo’s opponent was Victor Efrain Sandoval (37-3-0) an acomplished fighter from Tijuana, Mexico. Ricardo won that fight by unanimous decision. While not related, the two Sandoval’s fought different opponents on the same fight card at Gimnasio Mariano Matamoros in Tijuana, Mexico on August 19, 2016.
